 Research Assessment Exercise 2001

The results of the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise have now been published. As a joint Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, we have research groups working in Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.

The research is judged for its quality by a panel of experts in each area, and is rated on the scale 1-2-3B-3A-4-5-5* (with 5* being the highest grade) reflecting how much of the work is judged to reach national or international levels of excellence.

The results for our department are as follows:

Applied Mathematics   Grade 5
Computer Science   Grade 4
Pure Mathematics   Grade 5

This is clearly an endorsement of the high quality of research being undertaken in this department.
